Glenn Stout is an accomplished writer and editor, whose work has primarily focused on topics of sports and history. Decades after his first book was published, he is currently undergoing something new — seeing his historical non-fiction Young Woman and the Sea turned into a movie with the Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It’s been an exhilarating experience for him, but one that was nearly ten years in the making since his book by the same name was first optioned to be made into a film.
In a career stretching nearly 40 years, Stout has been published regularly, authoring such books as The Selling of the Babe, Fenway 1912, and Tiger Girl and the Candy Kid. The resident of Alburg, Vermont, which has a population of just over 600, also served for years as the editor of The Year’s Best Sport Writing; an annual anthology of a self-explanatory nature.
