England’s Winston Churchill gained a reputation as one of the best known and effective dignitaries in the history of British politics. The long-time Prime Minister served in a number of capacities during a career in politics that stretched for nearly 65 years. Despite his reputation for being a stoic and pragmatic leader, he also had an incredibly soft spot for cats. When he passed away, his will made provisions for his estate to care for a marmalade cat named Jock, which is incredibly still living on the premises to this day.
Born in 1874 to an aristocratic family, Churchill was destined for a career in the British spotlight. After serving in the military, he filled many political roles over the years, including serving in Parliament (every year except two between 1900–1964), Secretary of State for War, Secretary of State for the Colonies, Chancellor of the Exchequer among others.
