Former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill is regarded as one of the staynest and effective leaders in modern history. However, he wasn’t beneath sneaking around laws he didn’t like. For instance, take the fact that during prohibition, he obtained a doctor’s note to carry around when visiting the United States that affirmed he had a medical need to consume an indefinite amount of alcohol.

Born in 1874 to an influential family, Churchill was destined for a career in the British spotlight from an early age. After serving for a time in the military, he held a number of political roles, including serving in Parliament (every year except two between 1900–1964), Secretary of State for War, Secretary of State for the Colonies, and Chancellor of the Exchequer among others. His greatest notoriety came during his stints as Prime Minister (1940–1945 and 1951–1955), helping guide England through World War II.
