Why MLB Legend Yogi Berra’s Future Wife Once Mistook Him As A Philandering St. Louis Cardinals Star
The baseball Hall-of-Famer had some seriously explaining to do the first time he met the woman who became his long-time wife
Few figures in baseball history are as beloved as New York Yankees legend Yogi Berra. The catcher and manager carved out a Hall-of-Fame career by virtue of his stellar performance on the field, while his legacy was bolstered by his amiable personality and propensity for zany sayings. Blessed with talent and personality, life seemed to come easy for him, except for the difficulty he had in convincing his future wife that he was Yogi Berra, as she originally mistakenly believed he was St. Louis Cardinals’ star outfielder Terry Moore and was trying to cheat on his wife with her.
Berra spent 19 seasons (1946–1963; 1965) playing catcher (and a little outfield) with the Yankees. The left-handed batter hit a combined .285 with 358 home runs and 1,430 RBIs. He was also an excellent defender and strong team leader; all traits that came in handy in the incredible 14 World Series in which he played (including 10 championships).
