Many years after she last appeared in a film, and her untimely death, actress Grace Kelly remains a Hollywood legend. The notorious beauty with graceful dancing ability mesmerized the world before giving up her entertainment career to marry the Prince of Monaco and become royalty herself. By any standard, the star would be considered quite a catch, but her family actually had to pay the Royal Family of Monaco a huge dowry in order for the marriage to happen.

Kelly was born in 1929 to a wealthy family from Philadelphia. Her father, John B. Kelly, Sr., was a three-time Olympic gold medalist in sculling before going on to operate a successful brick company. Against the initial wishes of her family, she pursued her dream of becoming an actress and modeling.
