Why Famous Scientist Nikola Tesla Believed He Had Cured Stupidity

One of the most brilliant minds in history believed he had found a way to increase intelligence

Nikola Tesla was one of the greatest minds who ever graced the annals of history. His curiosity and intelligence helped him in introducing innovation and new technology to the rest of the world. Unfortunately, not every one of his ideas was a home run. This included his belief that he had identified a cure for stupidity by using electricity.

Born in Serbia in 1856 to a priest and a homemaker mother, Tesla possessed a photographic memory and an innate sense of curiosity. This served him well, especially given his affinity for science and math, in addition to speaking eight languages. He was so talented at processing equations in his head that his teachers often mistook his ability as cheating.

Tesla got a job in Paris working for the Continental Edison Company when he was a young man. His love of science had splintered off into the study of electricity, so the position was an ideal match. In 1884, he moved to the United States after he was transferred to New York City’s Edison branch, which had discovered his genius.
