A much debated holiday question was presented to artificial intelligence to settle once and for all — but were they able to?
My wife and I love the holidays, and as such we have no shame in decorating our home well in advance of the actual dates. Christmas is by far our favorite, and as I sit in my living room in mid-November, watching my wife wrap a festive garland around our freshly erected Christmas tree, it made me wonder what is the consensus best time of the year to start such festivities. Knowing that if I asked ten people I’d get ten different answers, I decided to see what artificial intelligence (AI) would have to say on the matter.
In the hopes of getting enlightenment on a topic that can be as polarizing as whether or not pineapple belongs on pizza, I approached two AI platforms with my Christmas questions — ChatGPT and Perplexity. Unfortunately, instead of drawing the curtain back, they couldn’t agree on the matter and cast a further shadow on if there is actually a generally accepted answer. Both responses made some practical sense but also had flaws that easily overrode their reasoning.
