When it comes to the physical features of humans, there are as many differences and variations as there are grains of sand on the beach. Such uniqueness makes everyone special for how they stand out and are different in some way. That was certainly the case for Thomas Wedders, a man who lived in 18th century England and is believed to have possessed the largest nose in history.

Little is known about Wedders’ early years, but it’s believed that he was born Thomas Wadhouse around 1730 in Yorkshire. Of common stock, his life would have likely not drawn a lot of attention if not for the fact that he became renowned for having perhaps the longest nose in recorded history.

It’s a near certainty that his very noticeable appendage drew significant attention from a very early age. As he became an adult, it was reported that his nose allegedly measured 7.5 inches in length — approximately the same length as a standard pencil. As might be expected from people with similar physical circumstances at the time, he parlayed this facial feature into a career.
