Chasing dreams is one of the best things that makes life worth living. No matter how far out of reach something might seem, pursuing such goals demonstrates how much we are capable of and provides hope and excitement. However, on occasion, such dogged pursuit can be taken too far, and that’s exactly what happened nearly a century ago when a gang of pre-teen boys from Chicago were caught in the midst of a murderous crime spree they hoped would land them in Hollywood as movie stars.

Many children have dreamed of growing up to become movie stars. However, few have taken such aspirations to the lengths that nine Chicago boys, aged 8–12, did in 1930. These bad boys were determined to become actors in Western films, which were their favorite when they attended the movie. Somehow, they hatched a huge plot designed to fulfill that goal, even if murder and breaking the law had to be done to achieve it.
