When couples get married there are all sorts of individual reasons that attracted them to each other. When these relationships fail, there are also sepcifics as to why they don’t want to continue on together. A bizarre example of this was a woman more than a century ago who married a man she believed to be an excellent cook. However, after tasting his horrible biscuits and other underwhelming food once they were living together, she quickly left him and got a divorce.

The May 7, 1909 issue of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch carried the story of Elizabeth Bleckie Johnson. When she married Victor Johnson, he insisted that he wanted to do all of the cooking for the couple. She explained:

“He made biscuits, fried ham and eggs and cooked coffee. I thought he was joking at first (about wanting to be the family cook), but when I saw him in the kitchen I noticed that he cooked like he was used to it. I began to wonder if I had married a chef.”

It wasn’t long before she realized her husband was no gourmant:
