The Man Who Saved More Than 2 Million Babies During His Life
Australian James Harrison has been a one-man army during his life, saving an immense number of infants because of one unique trait he possesses
No matter what, we all have something that we contribute to this world. In some cases, such contributions are larger or more definable than others. For an unassuming Australian man named James Harrison, he has had an impact that’s incredible to behold — as he has made in excess of 1,000 donations of his rare blood during his life that has saved more than an estimated 2.4 million babies.
James Christopher Harrison, also fondly known as the Man with the Golden Arm, was born in 1936. He is a blood plasma donor who has made significant contributions to medical science and saved numerous lives through his extraordinary donations.
He went through a life-changing experience at the age of 14 when he had major surgery where he had a lung removed, and received a large amount of blood through transfusions, which ultimately helped save his life. This experience educated him on the importance of blood donations and motivated him to start donating blood himself as soon as he turned 18, the legal age when he could begin.
