College and pranks have gone hand in hand for many years. As a rite of passage, being part of elaborate jokes while on campus is nearly as essential as earning the degree itself. As it turns out, the degree of difficulty and hilarity can be dialed up a notch or two when some added brain power comes into the mix. This was certainly the case 20 years ago when some Yale students got one over on Harvard University in the most ingenious way possible — in front of thousands of people.

In 2004, some very enterprising Yale University students pulled off one of the most memorable admirable pranks in the history of college rivalries, let alone practical jokes. The target of their evil genius was their long-time rival, Harvard, during the annual Harvard-Yale football game, which is known as “The Game” due to its lengthy history that dates back to 1875.

Two Yale seniors, Michael Kai and David Aulicino, oversaw the elaborate prank. With the assistance of 20 classmates, they spent more than a year meticulously planning and perfecting their devious plan. When it was all over, it truly couldn’t have gone any better.
