Slander can be a very serious thing. If someone makes a false claim about you, it can damage your reputation immensely, or even worse. This is especially exacerbated if the slandering is published for widespread consumption. One of the most sensational cases occurred in 1929 when world famous wrestler Stanislaus Zbyszko sued a major newspaper for big money because he said he had lost the love of his wife after she read an article they printed comparing him to a gorilla.
The Polish-born Zybszko developed into an internationally renowned Roman-Greco wrestler. At an imposing 5'8” and 260 pounds, he had a powerful build, which allowed him to win numerous championships and tournaments. As he traveled the world, he wrestled in different styles and performed in front of huge audiences.
