The Best Available Players Who Didn’t Survive Recent NFL 53-Man Roster Cuts

Some productive veterans are now NFL free agents

The 2020 NFL season is about to begin and in order to get ready teams had to trim their once bloated rosters down to the required limit of 53 players. Sometimes these cuts are easy decisions and in other cases it comes down to need and making agonizing choices. One team’s trash can be another’s treasure, and that may be well be the case with these newly available players.

Sean Davis, Safety: The 2016 second-round draft choice of the Pittsburgh Steelers missed all but one game last season due to a shoulder injury. However, in his first three seasons he recorded 242 tackles and five interceptions. Having latched on with the Washington Football Team this offseason, he didn’t fit into their plans and was cut. Still just 26 and finally healthy again, he could provide an immediate boost to some team’s defensive backfield.

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Safety: At the age of 27 and with six NFL seasons under his belt, Clinton-Dix is a good, starting-caliber safety who has racked up 522 tackles, 16 interceptions and a Pro Bowl nod. That also means he is pricier than a lot of other players, which contributed to his recent release, as Dallas will save $1.5 million towards the salary cap. Having also appeared…
