Tesla All-Electric Semitruck Fleet Rolled Out By Pepsi

A new phase of the electric vehicle giant’s business has officially begun

The growth of the electric vehicle market has been substantial in recent years. In addition to regular passenger vehicles, many businesses have sought to lower their emissions by getting in on the EV craze. This includes PepsiCo (PEP), which recently introduced their fleet of 21 Tesla (TSLA) all-electric semitrucks at their Sacramento facility.

Daniel Macht of KCRA recently reported on the formal unveiling of the launch of the transport vehicles. Pepsi indicated that the implementation of these Teslas into their truck fleet, which as a result made Sacramento one of the first locations in the United States to start using these vehicles, was due in large part to a grant from the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District.

Pepsi is excited that each truck has the capability of driving 400 miles on a single charge. Cumulatively, they expect that these trucks can reduce emissions by as much as the equivalent of 302 regular passenger vehicles (or more than 1,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas) yearly.
