Just about every fan of baseball has heard of Hall-of-Famer Stan Musial. The graceful outfielder was a masterful hitter with one of the greatest resumes and reputations in the history of the game. There was also Stan Musial, the electrician, who was a star for the Santa Monica, California City Works Department.

Nicknamed Stan the Man, Musial is on the short list of the best hitters in the history of baseball. The left-handed batter accumulated career marks of a .331 batting average with 3,630 hits, 725 doubles, 475 home runs and 1,951 RBIs. Displaying his excellent batting eye, he also drew 1,599 walks while striking out just 696 times. Behind his production, four Cardinals’ teams made the World Series, including three that won championships.

A 24-time All-Star and three-time Most Valuable Player winner (he finished in the top-ten of MVP voting an amazing 14 times during his career), Musial was one of the greatest stars baseball has ever seen. His selection for the Hall of Fame in 1969 was as much of a no-brainer decision as has ever been made.
