Project Dojo- Tesla Moving To Complete It’s Own $1 Billion Supercomputer
The EV giant is planning to finish a huge project to move all of their data processing needs in-house
Tesla (TSLA), the renowned electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer and tech company, has announced their intentions to finalize yet another ambitious project. Project Dojo is their plan to build its own supercomputer to process and manage the vast amounts of data generated by millions of of their vehicles worldwide. Looking at a cost that may approach $1 billion or more during the next year, perhaps unsurprisingly, Tesla is taking a route to keep this computing in house instead of relying on external options like other big businesses have been doing.
Faustine Ngila of Quartz reports that instead of using Nvidia’s supercomputer, which other large companies like Microsoft and Google do, Tesla has decided to significantly invest in building up its own powerful computing infrastructure as one of it’s “four main technology pillars.” During Tesla’s recent Q2 earnings presentation, CEO Elon Musk revealed that his company is prepared to allocate up to $1 billion over the next year to bring Project Dojo to completion.
