Lady Wonder, The Psychic Horse That Could Read, Do Math And Help Solve Police Cases
One of the most famous animals of the 20th century was a horse purported to be capable of highly intelligent behavior
Horses are among the most intriguing and magnificent animals on the planet. Their sheer beauty and strength make them living perfection. They can also be quite intelligent creatures, with some being attributed with the kind of smarts that might seem nearly impossible. Perhaps the brainiest horse on record was an American mare named Lady Wonder, who was renowned to be able to read, do math, predict the future, and even help police solve cases that were beyond their capabilities.
Records show that Lady Wonder was born on February 9, 1924. Just weeks into the start of her life, she was adopted by Clarence and Claudia Fonda. The Fondas nurtured her with extraordinary care, but it was Claudia Fonda’s unconventional training methods that revealed the horse’s uncanny intelligence and varied skill set. Using lettered and numbered children’s wood blocks, she taught the animal the alphabet and numbers, showing her how to use them to identify objects, spell words and solved rudimentary math problems.
