How The Founder Of Jack Daniels Died From Kicking A Safe

History is littered with an assortment of odd and downright bizarre ways that people have died. It seems for every person who has passed away peacefully in their bed, there is another who expired while on the toilet or from falling into a tiger cage. An unfortunate member of that group is Jack Daniels, the eponymous founder of the famous whiskey, who met his end after kicking a safe that wouldn’t open.

The Tennessee libation was the brainchild of Jasper Newton “Jack” Daniels, who was born around 1849. He learned the art of distilling by operating a still as a young man, and his whiskey was so good that it ultimately became a booming business.

Daniels passed away in 1911. Although the company has passed hands multiple times, it is still a tour de force, selling a whopping 13.5 million nine-liter cases as recently as 2021 for Brown-Forman, which now owns the business and is one of the largest wine and spirit makers globally.

Daniels never married or had a family of his own. Instead, he threw himself into his business, which undoubtedly helped build his adult beverage empire. In…
