The American CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) has been fighting threats, both domestic and foreign, since their official inception in 1947. Although many of their actions are secretive and unknown, they have gained a reputation for doing whatever it takes to get the job done and protect the best interests of the United States. This includes an operation in the 1950s when they turned to vampires for assistance in squashing a group of insurgents threatening to topple the government of the Philippines.
Although the United States and the Philippines have had a complicated relationship over the years (including the U.S. at one time overseeing them with colonial rule), World War II brought the two nations closer together. In fact, the Philippines was officially recognized as an independent country by the U.S. in 1946.
