Clear Coca Cola Created For Russian General’s Secret Enjoyment After Coke Banned In His Country

A special variation of the wildly popular softdrink was created to help a Russian war hero drink them at home after the Cold War led to Coke being banned in his country

Generations of people around the globe have desired and consumed frosty cold Coca Colas. As such, the soda manufacturer has developed into one of the most successful and recognizable businesses in the world. So popular is the soft drink that the American government once collaborated with them to create a clear or white version of the normally dark brown beverage so a top Russian General could still enjoy it even though it was banned at the time within his own country.

Business Insider’s Benjamin Brimelow reported how Russia (The Soviet Union) and the United States had been reluctant allies during World War II, but tensions rapidly increased afterwards in the form of the Iron Curtain as communism and capitalism clashed. As Russia sought to distance themselves from America, they banned some of the more popular items from their country, including Coca Cola.
