Can America Survive Its Growing Cult of Stupidity?
The denial of science, facts and common sense has sent the United States into a spiral
America has long aligned itself with ingenuity and superiority. Perhaps that was conjecture and propaganda, and perhaps there has been some truth. What is certain is that the country appears to be shifting well beneasth such attributes, as more and more people subscribe to conspiracies and ideas lacking truth or substance, which in turn has become a true cult of stupidity. Is this a passing phase or a signal of a troubling and spiraling future?
As a society, we have certainly never been perfect or even close to it. However, the pursuit of excellence, even if it has been cosmetic, has kept us in a mostly upward trajectory. Such positive aspirations have come to a screeching halt, as a disturbingly increasing number of people have wholly embraced what can only be described as idiocy and ignorance as the basis for their reality.
There used to be a nearly universal appreciation and respect of doctors and scientists. They don’t always have all the answers but finding them is their life work, and their expertise helps lead our way. Now there are many who call their efforts fake and hoaxes.
