There’s such a thing as being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but there’s little you can do about it when the unlucky entity is a house. Ray Minter, a long-time resident of San Jose, California, knows that all too well, as his home has been hit by motor vehicles from the nearby highway a remarkable 23 times since the 1970s.

Minter has lived in his East San Jose house since 1960, but his troubles began in 1972 when the Jackson Street off-ramp of the 680 South Freeway was first constructed. Since then, a regular string of accidents that have seen various cars crash into his home has made his property a local landmark and a stark example of the dangers of reckless driving. The incidents have ranged from minor fence damage to major collisions that have seen vehicles crash through his house.

Over the years, four cars have completely penetrated his house. His fence has been repeatedly destroyed/replaced. Three of his own vehicles that were innocently parked in his yard have been totaled. It was reported that his insurance company has spent nearly $30,000 to install steel poles in his front yard as a protective measure to hopefully prevent future crashes.
