Bobbie, The Lost Dog That Walked 2,550 Miles Across The US During The Roaring 20s To Find His Family
After being separated form its family on a cross-country trip, an enterprising dog somehow managed to find his way back months later
People tend to gravitate towards stories of animals who have done incredible things that would typically be considered well beyond their capability. In particular, dogs are always surprising us with their intelligence and loyalty. One of the best examples of this was a remarkable collie puppy named Bobbie who was lost during a family vacation during the 1920s. However, he somehow made his way back to his home months later after traveling 2,550 miles across the country by himself.
In 1923, Frank and Elizabeth Braizer of Silverton, Oregon had a family that included a young dog they named Bobbie. In August of that year the family took their pup with them as they drove to Wolcott, Indiana to visit relatives while on a vacation- taking a break from running a restaurant they owned called The Reo Cafe. It was there that their idyllic trip turned to tragedy.
